There are a number of really nice walking trails around this area and today we decided to follow one of the paths down to a place called Jupiter's Hole. It was a lovely day, a decent temperature for walking without it being too hot and clear blue skies made for some beautiful photos, all of which can be seen in my Picasa album for those of you interested.

Christmas In Spain
Today, I arrived in Spain for Christmas with the family. Since me and my brother have now moved out for good, my parents have been free to flee the country and start a new life in Spain - something they had always planned to do but that I never thought would actually come to fruition.
I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about the whole thing... I suppose I'll see them less often that I would have done otherwise but I'll see probably get out to see them twice a year and then they will be frequenting the UK a couple of times a year as well so I might even end up seeing them more then I normally would!

A Week at the Theatre
After popping in to the theatre last week to watch the rehearsals a couple of weeks ago, I find myself in charge of sound for this week's play, See How They Run.
When I was in Sheffield, I tried my hardest to avoid sound positions at all costs. I'm not a big fan of loud noises - particularly when they are as unpleasant as the chart tunes that were pumped out at the weekday club nights. I was trained to work the desks - as I mentioned in a previous post - sitting in front of all those knobs and faders terrified me, I had to 'watch' the desk once and should anything have gone wrong I would have been of very little use.

Out and About in Altrincham
I have been in Altrincham for about two months now and someone pointed out to me the other day that despite this, even walking to a local restaurant opened my eyes to new roads and streets that I had never seen before. It occurred to me that I still haven't really been round the town and had a look at what Altrincham has to offer. I knew that some places existed - I'd driven past the local cinema on my way to the supermarket and I'd heard rumours of a local market but I'd not been to either.
I thought that it was about time things changed.

Frisky and Mannish

A slightly overdue post but last Thursday, I decided to leave the house and do something with my evening instead of the usual lazing around in front of the TV. I'd been browsing the internet - nothing new there - and I stumbled across the Lowry's website and noticed that Frisky and Mannish were playing in a couple of weeks and incredibly, there were still tickets available!

Welcome to Manchester
It's been far too long since I last posted and I've finally found the time to put pen to paper (or the computer equivalent thereof... fingers to keyboard perhaps?). Anyway, I've been in Manchester for almost a month now and after a couple of weeks on my friend's sofa in Salford, I finally moved in to my flat in Altrincham on the 15th. I got to experience the trams and commuting for a couple of weeks and now I have the luxury of being just over a five minutes walk away from the office. I'm within easy walking distance of the train station, the local hypermarket and the city centre so I'm very happy with my choice.

Pies, Pastry and Puds
Last year, I blogged about a wonderful new programme to hit our TV screens, The Great British Bake Off. A year on and it's back! It started last week which was coincidentally just after I had started to feel an urge to bake. Since I've been home - I've not felt the need to bake - I've probably been too distracted with everything else that has been going on recently. It started when my mum mentioned that she was making some chocolate biscuit cake for some friends who were coming round. This inspired me to dig out the Hairy Bikers Family Cookbook - which I also blogged about - and try one of the mum's recipes for Millionaire's Shortbread.

Grad Week
What a week. I arrived in Sheffield on Friday 15th to finish the setup for Graduation, running the cables for the cameras and comms and mounting a camera on the main truss. The incredible transformation of the Octagon and the university campus in general for grad week is a sight to behold and you would never think they were the same venue if you saw it compared to the aftermath of Tramlines on Saturday.

The End of an Era
It is sad that the last few posts have all contained the word 'end'. My time at University is drawing ever closer but I'm holding out until I have officially graduated and then holding on some more before I leave Sheffield for good. Today was the last day in my house and I am no longer a Sheffield resident.
I don't have such fond memories of this place as I have had for the other accommodation we have stayed in over the years. I'm not entirely sure why - possibly because I've not spent much time here other than sleeping, or it might just be because there have been fewer memorable moments this year.

The End
So... this is it. I've just finished my last EVER exam of university and thus, the end of my course. Assuming I pass (and I'd have had to get minus marks somewhere for that to happen), I am officially a Master of Computer Science! I should find out my final grade at some point toward the beginning of July I think and then graduation is on Tuesday 19th July.

The End Is Nigh
Can you believe it, it's nearly all over. My time in full-time education is drawing to a close. I have been at this now for 17 years (since I was 4!) and I almost don't know a life without it. Lectures have finished now and my final three exams will all be over in a matter of weeks. I cannot wait to be done with them and am immensely looking forward to June 10th at 11:00 when they are all officially over. With a bit of luck the revision that I've managed to cram in between the large amount of procrastination will be enough to get me a good mark.

It's Been a While
Wow, it's been a while hasn't it! Yet again I've fallen behind and neglected this blog for a long time. I've been busier than ever with an almost endless stream of work piling up in front of me waiting to be tackled whilst I sit here trying desperately to avoid it - hence writing this post I guess!

Music, Music, Music
It's only been a few days and I'm already bored of revision and quickly running out of viable distractions. To keep me occupied for a bit, I thought I would share with you all some of my favourite musical highlights from the past few months. I've not been updating this log as often as I'd have liked to and one of my favourite things was the single of the week - even if it was very difficult at times.

2010 in a Nutshell
My how time flies. We are now well into 2011 (very nearly wrote 2010 there) and it seems like only yesterday that I was writing about 2009. I have about six months of university left before I leave for good and enter the realm of adults. If I could, I would stay perpetually in my final year forever but we have to move onwards an upwards and with a bit of luck, it will still be good fun.
