New Books!

After an otherwise dull day, my mum returned home from work bearing gifts and they were for me! Regular readers will know that I like to do a bit of baking now and again (usually with at least one mistake each time). No excuse now though because I have two new hardback cookery books. The first is something I was considering buying at the time it was published - Mum's Know Best: The Hairy Bikers' Family Cookbook. I posted many a time about the Hairy Bikers and this book is a real testament to the hard work they (and their team) must have put in over that series to organise the food fairs and collate all of the recipes.

The second book is called Baking Magic by Kate Shirazi and features almost 300 pages of wonderful recipes for cakes, muffins and cookies. If my cakes turn out looking like any of the pictures in this book, I will be amazed because they look so professional and delicious. There may be a lot of baking and cake related posts coming up over the next couple of months whilst I have access to some of the more unusual ingredients as well as a whole host of cake baking equipment - piping bags, food colouring and biscuit cutters that I don't have the luxury of in Sheffield.
