Tonight sees the beginning of the end of the current series of Dr Who. There have been highs and lows this series with only a couple of the episodes meeting my high expectations. There have been some very good decisions - such as casting Karen Gillan as Amy Pond (the Doctor's assistant) as I think she has done a marvellous job at bringing something new to the role. There have also been some - not so much bad but questionable - decisions such as revamping the Daleks who now look more like a child's toy than an evil super-villain. On the whole I have enjoyed watching it and with this final episode, the writers have really pulled their socks up. It is by far the best episode of the series, closely followed by the episodes with the weeping angels and I cannot wait to see what happens this time next week. With a bit of luck it won't just turn out to be all part of Amy's imagination and that they will employ a clever trick to get the Doctor out of this sticky situation.
I gave the cake I made yesterday to my friend today and when I took it round, I fell into the trap once again and instead of the 5 minute trip that it should have been, it was more like over an hour. I even allowed myself half an hour because I knew I would end up staying for longer but that still wasn't enough. I was treated to one of her mums trial recipe of some French dish that tasted like a quiche Lorraine pizza but with a pastry like base. Either way it was very nice.
In other news, I am still battling with the BBC's new iPlayer. I tried downloading this week's episode of Click only to be told that it wasn't available until tomorrow, despite it being available to stream online. I think it might be something to do with the programmes being repeated the following day (as Click is on a Sunday) because at the moment this is the only explanation I can think of. It's getting a bit annoying really because when three people are all using the internet for streaming / downloading, there isn't enough bandwidth to go around and so if I did use the streaming option, I would forever be waiting for things to buffer. I guess until they release a fix for it I shall just have to be patient and remember that this is still a beta version. It would be nice if there was somewhere to submit bugs to though. After all, isn't that what beta testing is all about?
