Go Safari

I was having a particularly lazy day because of yesterday and knowing that I was working this evening meant I was going to make the most of the time I had at home. As such, I lost track of time and forgot my tutor meeting about my poster. I hadn't designed anything yet and was about to email him to apologise when I realised I should probably have an attachment to send him as well to prove that I had actually done the work. A couple of hours later and I had a draft that I thought was acceptable and sent it onto him. I haven't had a reply yet so I don't know whether or not he got it.

The event this evening was a new event called Go Safari. It is basically the same as Roar but is a one off special hosted by RAG (the University of Sheffield's Raising and Giving charity group) and the Biomedical Engineers who are having their end of year ball. Basically it was another event for us to provide crew for and there was a lack of volunteers for this event.

Usually a lack of senior involvement is a clue that it will be a pain but it didn't actually seem that bad. It didn't help that three of the four crew were new junior members with two filling tech positions. I was the only general crew and the stage manager hadn't worked in the venue for a long time and wasn't entirely sure what he was doing. The reason there were very few seniors was because most of them were in the venue next door for 65 Days of Static. This was very useful because on a couple of occasions we had to borrow some of them to resolve the tech queries (mainly lighting based) that inevitably cropped up.

Despite the few technical problems, we had loads of time spare and the whole thing was rather relaxed. This was mainly because the dance stages and request tunnel were all left assembled from yesterday and so everything went at a rather nice pace.
