Behind the Scenes at Pop Tarts

Another working day, another new event and today is Pop Tarts, taking you back to the 70s 80s 90s and early 00s. I have always been a fan of this event and working it has pushed it to the top of the list. The work starts at 7pm instead of 4pm as with the previous two events and because it is a Saturday event, I am not working beforehand so the day is relatively short. It has also been the easiest and most laid back event to work but the downside to this is that I didn't learn as much as I have done at the previous two although this learning curve was bound to start declining as there becomes less to learn.

After coming prepared and purchasing an adjustable wrench from the local hardware shop, it turns out to be too small to use on the stage barriers and so whilst it is actually quite useful being smaller for some other things, I will have to get myself a larger one for this.

I was also privy to one of the TSC customs of Pop Tarts, the DJ in the smaller room (the Fusion) plays Journey's Don't Stop Believing at 2am every week and so we must visit and sing along. I ended up staying for the next few songs as well however because they were Bohemian Rhapsody and Bat out of Hell which are classics that should not be missed. I felt a little bit sorry for one of the crew members who is from India and has very little knowledge of this sort of music. She must have thought we were totally mad by the reaction everyone has to these few songs, singing along to every word and I dread to think what would have happened if she has seen the response to the Macarena or Whigfield's Saturday Night!
