No lectures today! A good enough excuse to waste away most of the day then. Woke up at about 1pm, trundled into Crookes to get a joint of meat for tomorrow and some milk for breakfast. It was the first time I'd been into that butchers and he was very helpful and I managed to get a nice joint of pork for a fairly reasonable price. On the way back I came across a newsagents selling cheap milk as well so a fairly good start to the day really.
I then managed to lose three hours making soup. Leek and potato, one of my favourites and very easy to make. I had been meaning to do it for sometime now and the leeks in the fridge were beginning to look a little bit sad. I managed to make a lot of mess but some jolly good soup that should keep me going for next weeks lunches.
I did manage to do some work; I managed to complete a section of the lab sheet on Python that I didn't manage to get done in yesterdays lab class. I'm quite proud that I actually managed to make these regular expressions work because I've seen them on the internet in JavaScript mainly and always wondered how on earth people write them and understand what they mean. Previously, it all looked like gobbledegook but I'm actually starting to get the hand of it. I also managed a page (an A5 page... with very spread out and large writing) of notes on speech processing although I'm not sure that really counts as there are less than 50 words on the page.
We are venturing out to the union again tonight for PopTarts, the unions longest running night centred around 80's, 90's and early 00's music. Last time we went - just before freshers week started, the DJ got very confused and started playing mostly 00's songs (as mentioned here).
