Website No. 2 - Done

I've finally finished the website for my parents - and about time too. I sat down last night and kept going until the very last bit was done. I have had the seal of approval from my mum and will await the fate of my step-dad's verdict tomorrow. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it as I've been the one making the decisions about the design and layout rather than asking someone else relying on specifications given to me.

You can have a look at it in all of its glory at Mar Menor Golf Rentals and see what you think. This was the first time I had used javascript in any real way and I've managed to get a JQuery UI calendar on the contact form and a Galleria based javascript photo gallery to replace the previous flash based one. For a comparison, you can see the old version of the site on the left and I think you'll agree that even just at a first glance it is a vast improvement - not to mention the now almost 100% syntactically correct HTML and CSS. I've made exceptions for the rounded corners in Mozilla and Webkit based browsers so the CSS isn't totally correct.

My next project is my website which is going to be a bit more difficult I suspect. I've learned so many things by designing these past two sites that I will want to try and cram it all in. I've gone from avoiding javascript like the plague to actively embracing the technology and accepting that in a lot of cases, it can make life so much easier. All I have to do now is decide on the colour scheme after deciding that my previous attempt is awful.
