To Wales

Today has been a rather pleasant day with the weather holding out for the most part other than a few spots of rain on the road. First stop was Barry near Cardiff to pick up my grandma. We stopped off at the Captain's Wife in Sully for lunch and I had the most delicious open chicken pie. The food all looked very nice but I rarely pass up the chance for a nice pie. Pudding was in the form of a normandy style apple flan with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream and was equally as nice although I have my doubts as to whether or not it was made on site.

It took us about 2.5 hours to get there which was a little longer than we had been hoping for but the second leg of the journey up to Tenby was a nice round two hours due to the lack of traffic. It can be very annoying getting stuck on the tight single carrigeways behind a slow moving caravan with little if any opportuniity to overtake on the long and winding roads.

Despite stuffing ourselves at lunch, my gran had laid out a spread for tea with proper ham, tomatoes from the garden and some nice crusty bread. If there is one thing you can be certain of when coming to see my gran, it's that you will almost certainly leave significantly heavier than when you came. My uncle joked that if she was being burgled she would offer them a cup of tea and a cake.

Despite the lack of internet here, time seems to whittle its way by quite nicely. Looking round the garden and in the greenhouse and simply sitting outside and having a chat - something that rarely happens at home. Its odd having both my grandma and granny together and they can chat away about old peoples things like bad joints and pills for hours on end and as they now both live alone, they must be glad of the company.

I had considered attempting to use my mobile phone to blog whilst I was here but the thought of having to tap away at a post as long as this fills me with dread. On a numeric keypad it would take such a long time that I'd rather wait until I come back and submit them all at once. It's not as if I submit my posts on a daily basis even when I have internet access anyway so nothing is being missed.
