To Portsmouth!

The day of reckoning is upon us... technically it's tomorrow but for me, I'm more nervous about getting here and finding the building tomorrow morning than I am about the day itself. I've always been a nervous wreck when it comes to doing new things and things involving travel even more so. I usually give myself way too much time and end up very early and over plan everything. Even little things like going to the train station, I have to plan for things like delayed trains, missed trains and cancelled trains and then I'll spend ages on Google maps checking and double checking where to go.

Getting down here was a nightmare. It took me 40 minutes longer than it was supposed to - although I think about twenty minutes of that was getting onto the motorway in the first place. My TomTom kept crashing and randomly restarted itself three times during the journey at increasingly long intervals. The final time it crashed, it failed to restart and I had no idea where I was going. The last instruction was to turn left in ten miles so at least I had some leaway to pull over and get it working again.

I always carry round a paper clip and drawing pin in the car to press the reset button because it is seriously unreliable. I was surprised when it restarted the first couple of times that it came booted up again and I wasn't without it for too long. I really had not got a clue where I was going though so ditching it wasn't an option. On the way back it might not be so bad but I did eventually get it working again and arrived safely.

It then took me a while to find the hotel section of the pub which is very badly labelled. The room is quite nice though and their recent refurbishment must have gone well as some of the older reviews really slate it for being dirty and in some cases, unbearable.

I gave in to the restaurant menu and it was superb food if a little expensive. I need to find a shop to buy something for tomorrows breakfast and ensure I set my alarm to wake up in time. I've not got my laptop power supply (I always knew I'd forget something) so I have limited time on my laptop - just enough to do some blogging and watch some iPlayer I hope.
