Moving In

Today has been a very long day and as if moving in wasn't enough, I am also working tonight... whoopee! As with every new house, there will be upsides and downsides but the hope is that the good outweigh the bad. Initially of course, there will be teething problems, especially if the previous occupants aren't as fussy as us when it comes to getting things fixed. This certainly seems to be true with last years tenants because our snagging list is several pages long and that's only after having been here a day or two. As we live here for a bit longer, more and more problems are likely to come to light.

From what I have noticed so far, the good things probably just about outweigh the bad which means that once all the problems are sorted - assuming that they are of course - I should be quite happy here. The main advantages are that it is much bigger than the previous house with a much bigger kitchen and separate lounge area - something we have not had since living in halls. Secondly there is the proximity to the shops with a Co-op and Sainsbury's Local not two minutes up the road.

One thing I have noticed is that my room is incredibly cold. At home I have been used to an average temperature of about 22 degrees recently and much more than that when the sun has been out. In my room however, it seems to be only about 17.5 at the moment which is a bit worrying considering it is the height of summer. God knows what it will be like in the winter but I may end up having to buy a heater!
