It is the end of an era, six years of programming have come to an end with the season finale. For the first time in TV history, the episodes were broadcast in both the UK and the USA at the same time! Admittedly the USA didn't make the compromise - we did but I'm sure a lot of people got up at 5am to watch it live. Perhaps finally the TV schedulers are learning that we won't wait for days or weeks for it to be shown over here and we want it at the same time as the USA.
I couldn't be bothered to get up at silly o'clock in the morning to watch it on a tiny 14" screen and so I waited until a normal time and downloaded it as usual. What I didn't realise however is that the episode I downloaded was only part two of two. The file size was twice what it normally is and my automatic episode downloaded didn't show any other episodes so I naturally assumed it contained both episodes. It didn't and so I ended up watching the final three hours in a very odd order. First was part two and it took me a while to get my head around why it seemed to start part way through and I couldn't follow what was happening. Then I decided that there must have been something in the pre-episode round-up that I had missed. I wasn't paying any attention to how long the episode was so didn't realise it was only half what it should have been. An hour later, I had recapped the last six years but was still none the wiser. I switched the computer back on only to find that it did indeed say CD2. Damn. So I then had to wait about half an hour for part one to download. I have no idea why it didn't appear in the RSS feed but after watching it, suddenly everything slotted into place.
I am still not entirely sure they have wrapped up all of the questions but then it made more sense than the Ashes to Ashes series finale which oddly ended in a similar way.
The TSC meeting today was a massive success and the jobsheet has been filled despite most people having exams. I think this is arguably one of the most successful weeks they have had so well done to us! I also had the task of collecting my drinks and squeezing them into my backpack to bring home. I am pretty impressed that I managed it - a crate of 24 cans of Coke and two 70cl bottles of spirits plus the usual crap that I carry around. It was a very tight squeeze but my Mary Poppins-esque bag lavished the chance to show off again. It is getting pretty old now but I daren't throw it away for fear of not being able to replace it with another equally spacious alternative.
