TSC Formal

As if I hadn't had enough TSC in the last week to last a couple of months, today was the AGM and the formal. With my first and only lecture over and done with and with the added bonus that our second assignment is not due until week 15 - I thought the last week of term was week 12 so this means it would be due during the exam period which is practically unheard of, why can't all lecturers be this laid back? - I put in my vote and opted to work next Saturday's PopTarts. This should give me time enough to catch up with all my work and this event doesn't require a huge amount of effort so Sunday shouldn't be too bad either.

As most of TSC will be attending Population this evening, it is customary that we all build it together and so that took up the majority of the afternoon. A quick play on the computer and it was already time to get dressed up all smart for the evening. We went for a meal at Zizzi's which was wonderfully arranged in advance so that we all pre-ordered food and had exact bill prices all sorted out which made everything so much easier. The only problem came when people forgot what they had ordered because they were sent in before the Easter break three weeks ago.

Some brilliant food once again although I was slightly disappointed that the pudding I was expecting to be amazing turned out to be not quite as amazing as I had hyped it up to be. Don't get me wrong, it was still one of the best apple crumbles I have ever eaten but I was expecting something amazing going by the description in the menu and it didn't quite deliver.

We had booked the octagon bar for the awards ceremony and were given drinks vouchers as well. By some miracle, I even co-won one of the Golden AJ (the TSC slang word for an adjustable wrench) awards for the first Roar event I worked which turned into a night of dancing and hilarity and thus won the Benny Hill award for comedy happenings during an event. It took us juniors by complete surprise as having been there for just a couple of months meant we were expecting to have missed out on most of these things.

From the Octagon bar, we moved on to Population and this week it was actually called Choculation, the popular twist that involves free chocolate in the form of Freddos. Shockingly they now seem to think that they can justify charging 17p for these pathetically small bars and without trying to sound old, miserable and reminiscent, in my day they were 10p and there was uproar when we found out they had been put up to 15p let alone 17p! Anyway, tonight they were free so it didn't matter so much.

Those who made it to the end of Population moved on to a mini house party courtesy of the newly elected social secretary which seemed fitting. This is where it started to get a bit boring although someone was dishing out raw rice, pasta, potatoes and mushrooms as snacks for the guests. I chose not to take him up on the offer but plenty of people went for the raw rice, I feel sorry for their stomachs tomorrow morning.
