Day 2 of Training

Today's training is all about lights and focuses on how to use the lighting desk - the Perl. When you are confronted with something that looks like this for the first time it can seem incredibly daunting. Thankfully, we had a professional trainer on hand to teach us all how to use it and once we had grasped the basics, it actually became quite intuitive.

We were allocated a set of intelligent lights each and went from the basics - patching the lights in so that the desk could 'talk' to them - to programming chases - a series of settings changes controlling movement and colour etc. I'm still not sure I prefer this over using the computer based freestyler software but given that nearly all of the seniors prefer using the Perl I suppose I will have to use them both in practice to get a decent comparison.

Tonight's social was a barbecue hosted kindly by one of the seniors. Once again taking full advantage of the weather, it was a thoroughly enjoyable night with a much better turnout than yesterday's flop. I have never seen so many sausages for so few people before.

BBQ - good times
