Catchup

This will be my last full day in Birmingham until the summer now and so being typically disorganised it was a last minute rush to go round organising some sort of gathering before I departed for Sheffield. Usually in this case I have been far too organised, tried to set up everything in advance and then ended up cancelling it as people gradually decided they were no longer able to come. Endless rearrangements later and some pathetic compromise has been met and we have to live with that.

Some people on the other hand can decide to do things on a whim and get everyone to attend. Perhaps it's the excitement of the spur of the moment decisions that temporarily overwhelm us and make us agree to doing whatever it is. In this case, that seemed to work for em too. I can't say I will be relying on it in the future; I tend to plan everything over and over again evaluating even the most bizarre exceptions that will almost never occur 'just in case'.

So we ended up in the pub for a good four and a half hours with the initial intention of being there for a fraction of that time and we only left because it was closing. I then made the mistake of trying to catch up on some missed TV - in this case, tonight's Channel 4 Comedy Gala feature the cream of British (and other nationalities) comedians as well as other 'entertainment' acts.

With the exception of a rude interruption from Jordan and her man, it was quite entertaining although it did seem to drag on a bit. It would have been nice if each act could have had a bit more than about five minutes but then again they were doing it for charity so I suppose they can be excused. The other bad point was that unless you were watching it live, you didn't get to see Jimmy Carr's contribution during the adverts. I finally managed to track down the ads on YouTube so her they are in case you - like me - missed them.
