Springing Forward

Not content with the amount of work I got done yesterday, today was even more dotty but I have now finished the next phase of that prototype and can move on to the final one tomorrow. Early tomorrow morning, the clocks will spring forward an hour and whilst I usually either forget or change them so early that I confuse myself, this year presents another challenge. Because I am in Birmingham for the holidays and my alarm clock(s) are in Sheffield, I will have to remember to change them all in two weeks time. It's difficult enough remembering on the day let alone a couple of weeks afterwards. I have managed to configure Outlook to send a delayed email which will hopefully remind me but we shall see.

During my web browsings, I finally got round to installing a persona for Firefox. When they first announced this feature, I dismissed it almost instantly as a useless gimmick but after browsing through some of the offerings, people seem to have spent a great deal of time and effort on making these pictures. Some of them are really good and professional looking pictures that are very creative but for the layout of my browser, fairly useless. I have added a picture of my current setup below so that you can see for yourselves why I have a problem that perhaps other don't.

It basically stems from the extensive use of the bookmarks toolbar and a lot of the personas obscure this area of the browser and make it usually very dark so that the writing becomes difficult to read. Finding a light enough and colourful enough theme appeared to be a daunting task at first but the range of Firefox branded personas is huge and I managed to find the one above that fits just fine. In fact, it is now so much more colourful and cheerful than the old dull grey that I wonder how I lived without it. Now that's what I call a change in heart, from useless to not being able to live without it!
