Braindead

Oh Dear. Today has been one of the most disorganised and pointless days this year. I started the day my missing my first lecture after convincing myself that I was an hour early for it. I therefore spent the hour in the lab - although some productive work did come of this - and as I walked to the lecture theatre for the lecture I thought it was a bit strange to see the class (and the lecturer) walking in the other direction. After checking my timetable, I realised that I had in fact just spent the lecture time in the lab.

So after feeling utterly foolish and missing the only lecture of the day, I managed to attend on time the TSC meeting and have signed up to work two nights this week, tomorrow and Saturday. I then spent the rest of the afternoon in the SmartFixIT shop and managed to write some code towards dissertation prototype three although I think I ended up creating more problems than I actually solved. I was due to attend a presentation on intro week assistants (the people who show the freshers round etc during intro week) so that I could fulfil the final section of my graduate award. Once again however, I had convinced myself that it started at 17:30. Guess what? It started at 17:15 and they refused to let me in because I was ten minutes late. Now I felt totally stupid, how could I not have learned from the mistake I made earlier and make the same one again!

After those two cock-ups however, the day got a lot better. I stormed off home up the hill in a huff and made it back in a fraction of the time that it normally takes me. Angry walking = fast walking apparently. For the rest of the evening I decided to finally get down to trying to make my flash code work and amazingly managed it pretty quickly. I seem to work rather well in the lounge or anywhere away from my desk really at the moment. No idea what it is but my desk seems to inhibit creativity and problem solving.

In other news, Alpabeat's new album - The Beat Is - is out today. I haven't got round to buying it yet but have had a couple of listens on we7 and can't quite make up my mind what I think of it yet. Bearing in mind that I wasn't sure about wither of the two singles from it which are now sitting very near to the top of my most played tracks, that means very little. Give it a bit of time and I'm sure I'll love it.
