Permanent

Whilst I'm waiting for the second batch of muffins to come out of the oven, I thought I'd jot down a bit of an update. I realise that I've not posted in a very long time but if it helps, I've not really been active on any form of social media recently. Until the other day, I'd not tweeted in ages, my facebook status updates are getting rarer and rarer. I signed up to google + as soon as I could but I've only ever posted one or two things on there, mostly just sharing stuff I find interesting or amusing from the 'What's Hot' section which has become compulsory viewing for my lunch hour.

So, what's been happening. Well... work continues on the TSC website which had got itself into a reasonable state with no bugs and just a few enhancements on the future to-do list. As it stands at the moment, there are about 5 minor bugs (there were almost 10 before I had a bug fixing session at the weekend) and the future to-do list is heaving with the different suggestions and planned changes we have. I simply don't have the time to keep on top of it at the moment if I want to keep some time free for myself. The other person working on it is coming towards the end of his dissertation and so won't have much time to work on it either - that said, come the summer I'm hoping he will have more time than he knows what to do with!

If you were wondering about my choice of title then wonder no more. On Monday, I was made a permanent employee of aquillaheywood. No more probation, and after my next appraisal, they will be just twice a year instead of every month - something that was becoming quite tedious. I don't like self-evaluation and when you have to do it month after month, it becomes very difficult to think of new things to say. I'm still really enjoying my work and learning more than I could possibly imagine on a regular basis. There are supposedly some more graduates starting later on in the year - around September time I think so it will be interesting to see how much further ahead I am compared to them after having had a year's experience.

I'm still managing to find things to do at the theatre across the road (the Altrincham Garrick Playhouse). I was in the Lauriston Studio (a smaller venue in the theatre) for a week last month doing lights and sound at the same time with more cues than I'd ever want again. Having never used the desk before, and with very little time to get to know it, I didn't manage to get my programming into the cue-stack so I had to do each change manually over three pages of 24 faders. I managed (just) but when my only view of the action is via an infra-red camera and the sound through a relay mic it made an already complicated setup even more difficult. Last week was nicer, I was doing sound for Our House and next week I am doing sound once again for the Glee Club.

Well, I think that's about it. I may post something next Monday as I hear there is going to be a new single from my favourite Danish pop band - Alphabeat. Here is a small teaser trailer which includes a tiny snippet of the release, it sounds mighty good is all I can say, enjoy!
