MOT

I found out when I was renewing my tax disc last week that I was a tad overdue for my MOT. Today was the earliest it could be done and so I hauled myself out of bed at silly o'clock this morning and headed down to Kwik Fit for 08:30. I usually take it to a Vauxhall garage but as my warranty has expired anyway, I thought I might as well try somewhere a bit cheaper. You hear horror stories about all the garages but I think Kwik Fit has a good enough reputation to trust them.

At about two o'clock, I heard the news I didn't want to hear. Failure. This made me feel even more guilty about driving round in an un-roadworthy car but I guess it could have failed after the date I should have taken it which means I've saved myself some money.

Sort of anyway, because in the end I paid something in the region of £450 to get everything fixed. The guy on the phone did mention what it was but the line was really bad and I couldn't hear him. If it needs doing, it needs doing. No point in telling them not to do it because then I have a broken car and still no MOT.

This afternoon was spent at the Fort shopping park looking for a new suit. My current one is a little on the large side as it was bought in a rush for a funeral. It looks quite ridiculous on me and wouldn't give a great impression on Thursday when I go to Portsmouth for an IBM graduate recruitment day.

I came away with a nice suit from Burton, a couple of shirts and a tie from Next so I'm now all set. We ran over slightly timing wise and I'll have to go and collect my car tomorrow now. Maybe I can find out what was wrong with it then.
