A Tedious Day

Today has been massively tedious, with the occasional joyful interruption of some playing around with Freestyler (a free package for controlling lights). As it is open source, there is a great deal of potential for customising the interface and using the Magic 3D Easy View software to construct a model of the venue so that you can see the output of your programming without having access to the lights.

As with any modelling however, it takes a very long time to do the simple things like positioning lights etc. So that was very easy to switch to whilst I was compiling and running the simulations of Pharaoh's Ants for my university work. The compiling bit is what takes the longest with some simulations with many agents taking up to twenty minutes to run. Given that we have not yet fixed some of the values used in the models, they were being run over and over again and so today involved a lot of waiting.

Since seeing Spark supporting Marina and the Diamonds a couple of weeks ago, I have been slightly obsessed with her songs and have been logging on to MySpace of all things to listen to her music as it is unavailable elsewhere until much later this year. As such, I was hugely relieved to read her post on twitter/facebook the other day where she has kindly released the demo of Shut Out the Moon as a FREE download! Since it is now available to download, it can be my single of the week, so get downloading and enjoy!
