Gazebos

Today's event involved erecting gazebos for some of the outdoor events taking place later in the week. I was expecting a very short couple of hours for this and was expecting some easy money. How wrong could I be? There was a reason that this event was paid - it was more like four and a half hours of heavy lifting and heights.

I don't have a problem with the heights - in fact, I rather enjoy them. Heavy lifting I don't especially mind either although I'm not especially good at it. I often find that the things I'm trying to lift weigh more than half of me which is problematic regardless of 'technique'.

With the gazebos all up, I found out we also had to put some lights up. We had already been running around the bar looking for these illusive lights to no avail and so when someone who knew what they were looking for and where to find them appeared things moved along a lot more quickly. The current building work taking place also made finding a power source for these lights somewhat difficult but that problem has been left for someone else to solve for the time being. In the end it took longer to set up the lights than it did to put up the Gazebos and in the horribly wet weather this was a most unpleasant day.
