The Beginning of the End

Now that I have finished my third year of university and have no more lectures and assignments, I also find myself having finished TSC work as well. Today marks the beginning of the end of this academic year and over the course of the next three days I will be slowly packing my life away into boxes and bags ready to return to Birmingham for the summer.

Despite today supposedly being a packing day, I have disappointingly only managed to nearly fill just one box. I spent the morning on the phone trying to sort out bills and cancelling utilities in preparation for moving out at the end of the month. It was so easy last year and this year things seem to have got a lot more difficult. Apparently 17 days isn't long enough to cancel gas and electricity with NPower and so we have to phone them at the end of the month to confirm that we are indeed leaving. O2 insist that we stay with them for another 7 days after we move out to avoid paying an early exit fine for the 12 month contract, BT are worse saying that we have three months of our contract left and thus owe them £35 for leaving early. I spent a long time arguing with them about this and now I'm not sure exactly what is happening with this fine, apparently it won't appear on the final bill but when and where it will appear is beyond me. If they send the bill to the house that we are moving out of then they are very silly and as they haven't asked for a forwarding address (as NPower did), the only conclusion can be that either I managed to 'negotiate' my way out of paying the fine or they will simply take it from my account.
