Today was far more hands on than yesterday and the first thing we did was disassemble two of the slightly older models of light. We didn't have access to these yesterday and thy have certain peculiarities that are worth knowing about. We then spent the afternoon fixing the stash of broken lights although a couple of them turned out to be working fine because we couldn't remember which ones were the broken ones.
We didn't manage to get through quite as many as we'd have liked to but I think we all now know enough to start trying to fix them without supervision - I'll let you be the judge of whether or not that's a good idea.
This evening I managed to finish what I started at the end of yesterday's work session and we are now one step closer to completing the assignment. I am felling slightly more confident about the whole thing now that we are heading in the right direction. whilst scouring the internet for some extra notes on RDF and RDFa (the subject of the assignment), we came across a website that allows you to put a job out to tender amongst a community of developers. Someone had pretty much copied and pasted our assignment and left it to accumulate bids. Looking further into it (and avoiding working on our assignment) we found it on another website too. The cheapest bid someone had made was $200 which sounds like good money to me! Still, clearly someone in the class was trying to cheat and at first we were in two minds as to whether or not to report them for cheating. After some thought though, we decided it simply wasn't fair for them to get the credit for someone else's work and so we emailed the links to our lecturer for further investigation. He emailed back almost straight away with the assurance that they usually catch these people and thanked us for the information.
