The highlight of today was the curry I made this afternoon which turned out a little hotter than I would perhaps have liked, mainly die to an adaptation of the original recipe due to a lack of chillies - something I find it quite hard to come by in supermarkets in Sheffield. They occasionally have them at the big Tesco but apart from that I haven't seen them around. Anyway, that was sidetracking a little. The recipe was courtesy of one of the Hairy Bikers' Mums Know Best mum's and other than being a little on the hot side (because of the chilli substitute) it was very nice and I hope to be able to try it again some time. It did take a while and my clothes all now smell of cumin but I think it was worth the effort.
In other news, I have made a start on my presentation - well the report side of it anyway and have got as far as two pages! Out of a possible twelve, that isn't really much but the material I have so far covered is only page 2 of 28 so I should have plenty more to write.
Other than that, I spent another couple of hours with SmartFixIT joined by the sound of drilling as the students union continues its refurbishment. I am going to have to start taking my laptop with me in the future otherwise I will actually fall asleep through boredom. His solution to 99% of the software based problems that come through the door is a total wipe and reinstall of windows. A hugely time consuming way of solving what may sometimes be a simple removal. After I was done there, I had to drop in to the university computer management (CiCS) building to get my university profile reset. Just in front of me in the queue was a guy who had a virus, they happily accepted the machine for fixing and would have it back to him in 24 hours. They have a program that runs overnight that sorts this kind of problem out and from what I gathered from the very brief eavesdropping, they are running a much more efficient process than SmartFixIT and for FREE!
