Another TV show that I have been very late to join the bandwagon on despite planning to watch the series when it was first broadcast, it totally slipped my mind every week. It was today however that I happened upon a blog - by the money saving expert Martin Lewis of all people - who mentioned the series in comparison to Being Human in a debate as to which was the better programme. He decided that marginally, the winner was Misfits so from that point on I decided that I should at least watch the first episode and see what it was like. Well that was my first mistake, I ended up staying up until about half past three watching the other five episodes.
So yes, it was a good programme and I cannot believe that I let myself miss out on it in the first place. The basic premise of the show (for those of you who also missed it) is sort of a cross between Skins and Heroes only the powers aren't quite so complex. They are a group of 'youths' having to do community service for one reason or another and they are united when a storm breaks out and gives them super-powers. They end up killing their first probation worker after he goes mad from the effects of the storm and tries to kill them all. It's quite cleverly made really because it managed to seemlessly combine the drama with comedy and there are some genuinly laugh out loud moment, not just from the lines but from the characters themselves. The actors are all really good which makes a nice change for the teen genre where there can be a tendancy to use poorer quality actors but they really seem to make the characters their own and they are totally believable. Whether they are like that in real life or not I don't know but it seems unlikely - especially Simon who is really creepy at times not with what he says but the extra mannerisms actually make you feel a bit scared.
I'm starting to wonder whether it is even worth tagging each post with TV because inevitably every post is about TV so it kinda seems redundant.
