Today was time for Christmas activities number one and was designated 'boy's day' due to an unwell mother. The decision was made to go to the SnowDome and we were trying to decide between tobogganing/tubing or ice skating. In the end we decided that there was no contest between half an hour of the former and up to two hours of the latter for about the same price. After wisely checking the holiday timetables however, it turns out that the ice rink at the SnowDome has been converted into Santa's grotto for the Christmas period. Damn. Thankfully there is another ice-rink not so far away in rival town Solihull so we decided to go there instead.
I'm not able to divine how the evening would have turned out like had events gone to the original plan but what I can say is that a jolly good time was had by all. This is despite me getting more exercise in two hours than I have in possibly the last month. After skating round and remembering how the whole ice skating things works again, the Christmas songs started playing which gave me a little bit more energy to carry on going round in circles. Somehow my often successful attempts to poke my brother on the way round turned into a wonderful game of tig (tag) which is far funnier on ice than it ever could be on grass (or other hard surface) and resulted in some hilarious accidents including my step-dad doing the splits around the barrier and me taking out one of the local chavs.
After an exhausting couple of hours I returned to a TV session before bed, I'd missed Waterloo Rd and the Spooks finale which still hasn't appeared on the iPlayer yet (at the time of writing) and so I will have to leave that for tomorrow. Amazingly, Waterloo Rd seems to be less than half way through its series run, something most unexpected as all of the other series seem to be concluding this week. I can't quite work out whether Max is winning or losing the big war at the moment because everytime he tries to make something go his way it tends to backfire in his face. Trying to get rid of Steph this week resulted in him temporarily losing Jo and as soon as Rachel got back, they were both reinstated. As for getting rid of the weakest links, how is it that Mr Budgen is getting away with murder, I don't think I've ever seen him teach anything and the pupils in his class always seem to be working in silence. As for the main storyline - the court case - I cannot see how Rachel didn't realise that it was Lindsey that killed her father, even when she had practically said it she still insisted on either playing dumb or making sure she didn't falsely accuse her of doing something.
