Disaster!

For the past week or so, there has been a strange smell of fish about the house every time someone has a shower. We have been scratching out heads as to what it could have been, naturally assuming it was the drains. We tried cleaning everything, pouring bleach down the sinks and drains but it just kept coming. Well today, someone finally put their sensible head on and decided to Google it. Turns out that smell was burning plastic and that the main shower switch was overheating every time the shower was used. Had we have left this any longer, we would be at significant risk of starting a fire. This sort of thing kinda puts everything into perspective really and one of my housemates is fuming that he didn't spot it sooner. I've no idea why, I wouldn't have expected anyone other than an electrician or plumber to spot that kind of thing and whosever idea it was to make this burning plastic smell of fish should be shot! That is probably one of the last things I would have thought of so I certainly don't blame myself!

It won't now be sorted until tomorrow afternoon and the power has been switched off for that circuit at the mains to prevent further damage. It was that badly melted that the off switch had jammed (very useful). I can't wait for the queue at the sink tomorrow, what a delight that will be.

I did managed to get my dissertation plan finished, though I was hoping to have it done in time to hand in before my lectures but it wasn't to be. That means I have to trips up the hill tomorrow - oh joy.

It was the turn of Rhod Gilbert to host Never Mind The Buzzcocks this week and whilst I respect him as a comedian in his own right, I have never much liked him as a presenter. He has done a few voiceovers in the past and I never really liked him in that role. He wasn't so good as a presenter either and although there was some nice banter between him and the guests, especially Gabby Logan, but it just didn't seem the right sort of style for NMTB and I really hope they manage to get Simon Amstell back next series.
