Sheffield

I've arrived! Haven't quite finished unpacking yet - still got both suitcases to do - but I've done four out of the five boxes which isn't too bad. Very tired now though and it doesn't help being on the top floor of the house either. I've already managed to hit my head three times on the ceiling coming up the stairs and if it carries on like this then I'm going to have to install some form of cushioning system before I lose all of my braincells.

Managed to get the internet working, no thanks to O2, the problem turned out to be a dodgy filter that seems to only allow telephone calls and not DSL which is most peculiar as my initial thought to test the line and the filter was to plug a telephone in - which I did and it worked! I decided to try a different filter as a last resort before calling them and thankfully it worked. My housemate is now very happy that he doesn't have to walk all the way down to the library to get his daily fix now although still no sign of the TV working.

I've been really enjoying driving up the A38 to Sheffield and I always seem to make much better time going that way than all the way on the M1 and after today, I'm not surprised. The A38 was bliss until I had to join the M1 when it was bombarded with lorries in all lanes! I think the government should introduce a rule banning lorries from the outside lane - it isn't fair on everyone else, especially when they are trying to overtake each other when one is going at 59mph and the other 60mph, it takes forever and you know that they are only going to go and do it again another mile down the road.

Finished compiling a provisional list of evening entertainment for freshers week this evening and am getting quite excited about it now. I'm going to have to get my skates on to get the tickets though as come Saturday all of the freshers will have arrived and they'll go like hot cakes.
