I kinda knew he would do it but seeing it happen live makes a million and one questions pop to the top of your head, how on earth did he do it?
I am referring, of course, to Derren Brown and his successful prediction of tonight's lottery numbers. From what I have seen of his previous programmes and illusions, there will be a trick to the whole thing and although he promises to explain all on Friday, my guess is that some information, namely the most important bit, will be omitted. My current train of thought is that it is similar to The System, the show about how to win on the horses as the logical part of my brain is telling me that it is impossible to predict the lottery results. The other logical part of my brain also tells me that there must be a trick to it - unless Channel 4 are paying him upwards of £2.4 million, something I very much doubt. I guess it's just a case of waiting for Friday and hoping that it's something a bit more impressive than a frozen screen or something like that.
My first treat of the night was somewhat unexpected but cam e about from getting round to watching The Big Food Fight on 4OD. This has to be the funniest cookery based programme I've ever seen and I can only describe it as Ready Steady Cook meets Have I Got News For You crossed with a bit of It's A Knockout. Hosted by Sue Perkins who is quickly becoming one of my favourite broadcasters appearing in several of my current favourite shows including Just a Minute and the Supersizers. I was laughing out loud at least a few times every minute, something most modern day sitcoms don't even manage and it takes something fairly funny to make me laugh or chuckle audibly.
I'm just glad I'm living in the digital age with access to the wonderful services like the iPlayer, 4OD and ITV player because I'm hopeless at watching programmes live and at the moment there is no working TV in Sheffield as far as I'm aware and being able to watch all of these programmes online is nothing short of a godsend.
